Our triathlon club

We had a good day promoting our club it was nice to see our members come out and support us also was nice to see some new members sign up ! I think it's going to be a great season
Remember to check out the Durham Region triathlon club on the web also like us on Facebook ! Today we had a table set up at the Oshawa sports fair at the civic recreation complex it's a nice facility, lots of people came threw but not as many visitors as I figured but had about 5 to 8 people inquire which is a good start ! We will be promoting it more over the next couple weeks !
I received my April training plan from coach Paul ! It's starting to look like fun ! My bike stayed the same but my swim change a bit and my weights moved from Thursday to Tuesday which is nice because now I don't have to push weights on my swim day!!!
Next month I'm assuming my days will move around again due to the out door training ! My Wednesday will become a swim day and thursday will become a bike day do I can fit in the Drtc training which is already planned out !
I'm very excited about this season !
Right now I have 23 weeks to ironman 70.3 muskoka so I'm preparing to set the switch to the on position for the rest of my training !! No more excuses time to load up the fire !!!
I better get some rest I have my last hockey game tomorrow ! It's gonna be a hard one ! Cross your fingers !!

What a day

So I get a call today from a collection agency telling me they want me to pay my rogers bill of thousands of dollars !
I was in shock !!! I know I have a rogers bill but I try to keep most of my bills up to date ! Then I thought It might be a mistake ! But no it wasn't ! I had my identity stolen !
Someone broke into the computer system at east way Chrysler in Scarborough when I bought my jeep last spring and stole all the people's info! Unfortunately I was one of them ! They changed my address, phone number and my life ! When I phoned they didn't think it was me ....
Not a nice feeling !
I will be on the phone lots until this is over !!

Maintenance means everything

So my swim went good tonight ! I did my first 1500 m at a nice pace just around 60 percent then I thought since my shoulder is feeling good I would time my last 750 m it worked out to 15.50...my first 250 m was 5.15 second was 5.16 my last 250 m was 5.19 so I didn't drop much on my splits very pleased ! Now that I'm home after the swim I feel a tiny bit of pulling in my right shoulder but I'm glad it's not pain !!!
So back to the maintenance !! A triathlete needs regular massage from a registered massage therapist and I'm not just saying that because my friend Peter is a very good one ! But it helps, I'm almost due for my next one !
Also I go to see dr Jason Taylor in whitby he does a great job at keeping lots of triathletes bodies in top shape ! At first I was unsure of the benefits but I have witnessed it with my own eyes its an absolute must to take care of your body when you are putting it threw extensive training !
I have quite a crew of people working with me to achieve my goals ! Its totally amazing to have such support !
Tomorrow is my day off which is nice because of my busy weekend Saturday I have a two hour spin followed by an event for the Durham region triathlon club which I am a board member of and love supporting, we have a table at the Durham sports fair at the civic to promote our club check us out on the web or facebook !
I will not try to post a link with my iPhone again but maybe tomorrow I'll do it with my PC

Putting together the puzzle

It's been interesting to say the least ! When to eat when to train, sick, tired, injured, broke.... Gels or bars? Motion control or neutral ? Compression sleeves or not? Tri Bike or road bike? Protein or carbs ? Socks or no socks?
I have many questions and few answers!
I ask myself sometimes why I post every day ! And besides the fact that my Abbey will bug me for some new blogs to read posting every day keeps me on track even when I'm off track it still keeps me accountable and honest to my goals!
Another question I ask myself is how many times can one fall off the heathy eating wagon and scarf down a box of peek freen cookies ? If I would just stay on track for 6 months and eat properly I would be at my race weight ! Especially after 16 months I would be ripped and skinny ! I am still happy with the way I look and feel but it could be better ! I'm sure training for my 70.3 ironman will take some weight off this summer but we will see !
If I try real hard I could be down 20 to 24 lbs by my first race which will put my around 248 lbs which will leave 18 and then I'll be ready for those muskoka hills !

Two amazing athletes

Good evening

last night I tried to post the links to my friends blogs but my ipad doesn't like to get along with the eblogger site so I will try again on my PC
Lisa trains hard and has a full time job and a family like most of the age groupers in triathlon and still finds time to train her heart out every day that really inspires me to train, my first ride out with the DRTC I arrived at the rec centre early to try to figure out what to do and the first two people I met was Susan and Lisa they joked with me and made me feel comfortable but they had to leave early because they were going longer !
Lisa is racing in the Ironman Texas race in May which is quickly approaching, she is doing it in honour of two people close to her heart, her brother Kevin who passed away from cancer and her son Tavis who has cerebral palsy. Lisa is raising money and awareness for the Grandview children's center in Oshawa that help out Lisa's  family.  I have a very young niece with charge syndrome and my sister in law is a single parent along with another young child  and she will greatly benefit from the help from Grandview children's center so Lisa doing this race and raising awareness and money for the Grandview children's center is helping many people ! and i thank her and look up to her for accomplishing such a massive goal! what she does is nothing short of amazing ! with a very supportive family and friends and team and coach (it sure takes a lot of support to make this happen) I am very proud of Lisa and thank her for her huge help to a great cause.

My next amazing athlete is Liz, she has over come her fear of swimming and turned her run into a run after completing a 30 km race this passed weekend ! Liz will be a force to be reckoned with out there this year !! her swimming has improved and she is already lightening on the bike and now she has a 30 road race in her pocket !! im very proud of her ! Liz is raising money to help Oshawa's gate 3:16 outreach center with a goal of 5000 dollars, which also is a very worthy cause  Liz and I are in most of the same races this summer and will enjoy training with such an amazing individual

What does it take ?

Good evening !!!

It takes time, money, dedication, heart, support, the list can go on and on ! If you have read any of my previous posts you know of the battle I face with food ! It's quite a war but I know I will win ! I've had this same battle with alcohol, cigarettes and won so I know it's only a matter of time when my fight against fat will be over !!!
I have been thinking about why I want to train for this race over the last few weeks and have come up with only one answer so far ! It's not for bragging rights, although it is kinda cool, I don't even think its because I want to get fit because let me tell you there is much easier ways to get fit than train for a ironman!!!
I think I'm doing it for myself I want to push myself to my limits then go passed them!!! I want to achieve goals I never thought possible I want to make my family proud of me !
I'm just doing it for ME ! But by doing it for Me I already can see how my positive energy effects lots of other people ! People that never thought they could achieve certain goals are setting out to achieve them ! So really I'm doing this for all the people in the same boat as me that are struggling with their weight ! So that's who I'm going to dedicate my race to ! I can't wait it's going to be a great day for me!!!

Race season

It's official ! The race season is on !! today the oldest road race took place in Hamilton Ontario !!!!!! The around the bay 30km the Drtc had a strong showing today with many members running ! I'm very proud of all those who took place in today's race ! True athletes !
My sister-in-law ran it today after being sick most of the week !! That took tremendous guts ! I'm glad I talked her into a triathlon this summer ! We are going to run the Guelph sprint in June!! Should be fun !!
I thought today was going to be my last hockey game but to my surprise we won !!! So next week will be the last I haven't quite figured out how I will tell my team this will be my last season, I've played with them for 15 years and it will be a sad day when I tell them !!
Hockey is a big deal in my family but sometimes you need to make difficult choices in life and this is one of them, but need to be done.
I have once again been struggling with my weight ! All the talk of getting things together doesn't seem to be working ! I think I need to change it up a bit, I am so very busy that I don't even have time to make a simple meal plan so I will not worry about that and just try to eat healthy and stay out of the junk and I hope with my increase of workouts the fat will come off ! I am going to watch what I eat but not put as much stress into the plan ! Just healthy clean eating, soon the snow camp will end and I can have my life back again, and my routine something I've been missing since mid October
Just an update my shoulder is feeling a bit better I have missed two weight days last week giving my shoulder a rest before it gets worse and now feels better, we will see tomorrow at swim and my ankle in the run today felt good or good enough to tolerate!
Off to see dr Jason tomorrow morning so hope it works out for me !!

Around the bay

Good evening !


I want to take today's post and dedicate it to my friends running around the bay!
I would have loved to run this race with them, although it wouldn't be a race for me with my turtle like speed lol but I'm saving my ankles for the summer I'm not sure how many km's are left in these wore out ankles so I will only run when I have too!!!
I have a few friends running tomorrow and I'm so proud of all of them and wish I could be there for support but I have my final hockey game before I retire to pursue my ironman dream, the risk of injury is still way to high.
Around the bay is a great way to warm up for the upcoming triathlon season for many triathletes their A race training schedule should be started or starting up in the next couple weeks and for some may already be going for the earlier races !
My first is a sprint in Guelph already to the mileage right now for that race!
I remember my coach telling me that the training we did in the winter will be noticed in the summer and I'm glad I gave it my all !!! All those hours on the trainer paid off '!!!! We were spoiled with all the nice weather over the last week so back on the trainer now till it gets nicer!!!!

Time to light it up !

Good evening !!

This month has been so busy for me !!
It hasn't slowed down ! Soon April will be here and there is no looking back ! Only to look at how hard we trained over the winter to get to the point we are at now !!!
I'm real happy with the shape I'm in right now, I could have been in better shape if I was a little more serious but I think it was good to take it easy since I'm hoping to train for a full ironman next season and that will be the commitment of a lifetime !!!
I'm sure all I will change is my nutrition and my training intensity, I won't go crazy in the off season this year I will just be consistent and eat well and hope I'll be at 220 lbs by my half ironman this summer !!!
My shoulder didn't feel too bad today until I picked s bag out of the back of my pickup truck and pulled it again, bit I'm sure it will fix itself over the next tri months !!!!!

Compression sleeves

Good evening !

I couldn't resist this beautiful weather !
I had an amazing ride tonight but I think I might have been the last one for a couple weeks with the look of the long range forecast !
I misjudged my time, my plan said an hour and a half and I was about 145 but it was so nice kind of a treat !
I was just on fire today, on my ride I averaged 30.1 km per hour on my bike computer which I'm real happy with.
I was also lucky enough to say "on your left" today which made me giggle, as a picture of my friend Susan flashed in my head !!! Not because she is slow, she is an amazing athlete but just because it was a fun night last year at track night coach John would always cheer me on to go pass her ! Always lots of fun !!! But back to my "on your left"story!!! I had about 20 km done and my body was warmed up and just getting in my grove and I turned left up waverly st in Bowmanville to go north to Nash rd to go back east when I saw a fellow cyclist!!!! And me being a social person and a tad bit competitive thought it would be a great idea to ride with someone !!! Or catch and pass them! Then I thought maybe he was to far away but I put it into the big gear and pressed on ! He was about 2 football fields ahead, but away I went there was a big hill coming up so I thought I'd catch him then as long as I pulled the hill hard! I didn't do well on the hill because I used up alot of juice on the flat trying to catch him and when I got to the top he had doubled the distance again, but I put my head back down and gassed it down the hill again! And I caught him, after I got home I checked my computer on my iPhone and that 20 min stretch I averaged around 38 km per hour !! It was fun !!!! But after I caught up I cycled behind him and wasn't sure about bike etiquette if I was to pass but then thought I did all that work to catch I better pass "on your left sir" I said and away I went gave a friendly wave and passed the roadie !! I like to pass roadies because for some reason they don't like tri bikes. At least the ones around here!!!
So on to the compression sleeves! I'm not sure how many people like them but the science shows the work and other science shows they don't !
I know for a fact they help my run and my recovery ! And I feel they also help my bike !!! How you say ? I'm not sure but I feel better after and during ! With the run especially, and although I can't tell any specific scientific proof I will swear buy them for me !!! I feel much less pain after !

Long day at work

Good evening

Today was one of those days that life got in the way !!!!
I'm not going to let it bug me just move on !
If it was closer to my race I would worry about it but not yet ! If I was cleared to run outdoors I would do that but I didn't get home from work till late and couldn't get to the gym !
On a different note I'd like to say that change not only is healthy and safe it's also good for you so embrace change its not that bad ! And always come out of the corner with your head up and not looking at the puck you don't know who Is coming around the other way !

Good year planned

Good evening

Even though my day started at 430 am and it's now 1130 pm and I'm just beat I thought I should put a short post in (so Abbey doesn't get mad at me) I had a busy day at work went right to our triathlon club meeting (THE DURHAM REGION TRIATHLON CLUB) an excellent club then from there right into the pool for my Monday long swim!
We have some great things planned and can't wait for the club training to start up !!
I had a small little tweak in my shoulder tonight in the swim and will monitor it as the week goes on, hope it's just minor !!! Shoulders are finicky little things !!!! So remember if your body is telling you something better listen !!! But mine always says " go ahead eat that burger" !!!!!So don't listen if it tells you that lol

Hard to understand

Good evening


A triathletes life is hard to understand, recently some friends of ours (erin meet threw a place she used to work) want us to go play cards on a Saturday night and I keep telling Erin no I can't go because I want to be in bed early Saturday night because I do my long ride on Saturday and long run on sunday, and the last thing I want is to be up all night ! Some folks just don't understand !
I am busy every day of the week ! It's nothing personal I just have a goal to achieve ! Maybe one day I will have a bit more time but over the next six months I will have no time to do anything !!! So I hope everyone understands !
I tried out a few new things on the weekend, New shoes !!!! Newbalance 840's very nice shoes, like running on a cloud, if I get a couple months out of them I'll be happy !!!! Also I tried our my first pair of compression sleeves on my calves and I must say for all the controversy over if they work or if they don't I'm going to give them my two thumbs up ! I thing alot of the benefit came from the stability they supply to those muscles, I have had no lower leg pain today I usually have after a run ! I also had them on for a couple hours after to aid in recovery ! Although very pricey at 50 buck I'd say that is another piece of equipment I will not go without !

Same old question

Good evening


I ask myself why quite often !!! Why do I do this ? I can achieve a healthy lifestyle from just exercising and watching what I eat and I wouldn't need to train on the extreme side.
I really can't answer that question, but I think about it often......the amount of money and time and sacrifice is incredible, just the equipment alone is expensive, not to mention classes, coaching and travel, I think having a coach is very important, I think having a coach takes all the guess work our of a difficult task of preparing for a race, coaches also can help to keep you from over training (which I'm sure I would do without my coach)
Classes are also important, swimming and biking are some classes I took in my first year ! And yes they have made me a better athlete !
The right gear also is important,this is only my second season I already have quite a pile of tri stuff !! Wetsuit, tri bike numerous pairs of shoes, shirts, hats, watches, the list goes on and on!
But why do we do it ! I keep searching for an answer and hope I find it someday !

New shoes !

Good evening I thought I would use up my Christmas gift cards today and go get some new shoes ! I picked up a pair of new balance they look pretty good ! I'm gonna give them a try on the treadmill on Sunday and see if they are good to keep !
I had a very busy week but didn't miss any workouts !! Just missed sleep and I'm feeling it now !!!! Soon to bed for me.
Tomorrow I'm going to get some compression sleeves for my lower legs and see if they help !
I went to see Dr Jason today had a minor adjustment sore back ! It was fixed very quickly I couldn't believe it I have to go three times a week for three to four weeks and hopefully I'll be back in shape !!!

One of my biggest fans my daughter will remind me via text message to write my blog daily but today I just didn't have time !!!

Nice to be outside

So today I had a chance to get out and try my fitness that I have built over the winter and it's hard to believe I can get any faster than I am now ! I could actually notice a difference !!!! Some hills I had a hard time with last year I had to stop at the top and look back to see if it was the same ! All that spinning paid off today !!! I'm so pleased !
Now to drop the weight get my new tri bike and look out !!!!!
Everything is coming together nicely but I do need to talk to my coach to see how I'm going to handle my training from here on in, how hard to push, I don't want to go crazy when things are starting to work good and burn out, but also I don't want to go to easy that I don't gain !
April will be a good month ! Nutrition will be set, schedule set, mental part getting set, ready to rock !!!
DRTC training will soon be going ! Can't wait to see all my tri buddies ! And to get out on our group rides !!!

My coach knows!

Good evening

When I received my march training plan I saw the run schedule was 1run and 1walk for 30 minutes one day and 2 run and 1 walk for 20 minutes and follow that up with 20 minutes of cardio another day!! I am completely amazed that every time I run this month it seems to be getting easier, it's real hard to do the 1 and 1's for me because i feel like i should be running my guts out but my coach is breaking me in i think ! but I'm making sure I follow the plan, doctor Jason has had me shorten my stride and turn my feet over faster so my cadence is higher which is sure alot nicer !!! I could see myself in the mirror today and I will say it doesn't look pretty but it's sure easier to run like that !!!
Tomorrow I'm looking forward to a ride outside I'm scheduled to do a 1.5 hour trainer ride but it's going to be so nice outside !!! I saw lots of bikes out today and it was wonderful to see !
I'm glad I came out of my training low ok with minimal complications !! I think it was our pool game that got me out of my rut thanks DRTC!!!! It was great to just take a break !!!

One year ago

Good evening


This was the month, pretty close to the exact day I decided to do my first triathlon ! I'm very happy I stuck it out through all the difficult times! All the times I wanted to give up! I'm in the best shape of my life and getting better by the day! The only regret I have Is proper Nutrition !!!! If I would have been eating right from the start I would be at my race weight of 220 !! But with careful planning (if I ever get any time) I will be to my race weight by my long race in August ! What a huge battle ! I thought, train train train but it's more than that !! Train plan train plan think think, it's as much mental as physical..
I have friends at all different levels and everyone has to sacrifice all the same things ! But the reward at the end is more than you think !
The best reward is health !! And after the race is over, after all the cheers and high fives, at the finish, all the tears (and training in this sport there is gonna be some) I can't imagine my life any other way !
I sometimes wish it was easier, I've seen myself having to get up at 330 am to be at the gym for 5 because I sit on the side of my bed and think up excuses why I don't want to go ! Why it would be much easier to just lay there instead of training but I always go!! I think in total I have only missed about 20 days of scheduled training, now a few of those days might not have been at 100% but I still trained!
I don't know what's up with me today but so pumped to go jump in the pool I can hardly sit here and wait !!
So I hope this is going to be an awesome race season !!! As it stands now I will have someone I know at every race !!! Which always makes it fun ! And I think even 3 out of the 4 races my coach will be at !!!!
I had the most amazing swim tonight it will be hard to ever top that ! I watched people come and people go and I was still swimming !! I love that .

Smell of spring!

And almost time to pack the trainer away for the winter! Even though I dont seem to mind it now !!! And it has helped my bike this winter !!! Last year at this time I didn't even have a bike so I'm way ahead !
I have some kind of pull in my left leg just behind my knee I think it's the calf but not sure ! I will pay close attention to it to make sure it doesn't get away from me.
I have started to push just a little harder this week near the end of my run and bike were I would normally just put the time in and complain to myself about how I want to stop, I would push threw and give everything I had to finish ! I think that's helping !
Only 2 hockey games left this year and I need to make sure nothing happens to cause a injury !! To close to race season to risk that ! We are in the bB final, a place that we are not used to being in !!! Usually beat out and golfing by this time of the year !
I trained with Peter today very nice to have a spotter in the gym it makes it easier to push that little bit extra without dropping a set of weights on your head ! Peter did very well today and was glad to have him training with me !
My plan is going to have to shift back to evening training since I've gone back to the city gym !! I don't mind that anyway I don't really like early morning training anyway !
Overall had a great weekend and feel ready to take on another week !!

A good read

This is a long but good read !!!!


Everything I Know about Triathlon, I learned in Kindergarten

Remember when you used to go to the neighborhood pool on the weekend and spend endless hours swimming and playing games with your friends? How about going outside and playing kick the can from the time school was finished and your homework was accomplished! You played until your mom yelled down the street to come in as it was getting dark and it was time to eat dinner? Riding your bike to your friend’s house was fun and riding it to the mall meant freedom? You never thought of any of these as exercise. It was just fun! Triathlon is just an extension of our childhood playtime.

If your mind set was like when you were a child, just fun and no expectations; your open water swim could be thought of in that manner. I hear of many triathletes struggling with the swim portion mainly because they stress out because they feel somewhat claustrophobic. Just relax and swim! When did you stress out as a child playing in the pool? Think of your open water swim as a game, just like when you were young. When you are in the pool try breaking up the swim into little pieces, for example, I will make it to the wall like I am Michael Phelps. Or, if I swim like Sarah McClarty, she would be swimming long and strong. All of these little games will help you to relax during a race and not think about everything else around you.

How about the bike? I remember my friends and I riding to our favorite spot on our BMX bikes and just riding easily on the way there. When we got to our little dirt track, then we would ride like hell!. Wow, that’s oddly similar to my ride last week which consisted of an easy warm up with some intervals in the middle. We cannot go hard all the time or we will be training the wrong system all the time. If we go easy all the time, we will learn to be slow all the time. When you were a kid, you knew when you were tired and you rested. As adults we need to learn to rest as well. Listen to your body like you did as a child. If you are too tired to do the next interval, then rest longer or call it a day. We knew a lot about ourselves as kids and we should relearn to do the same as adults.

Playing kick the can and hide and go seek were all about having fun and racing your buddy to get to the "can" first. (No, not the porta potty, the tin can. I know what you were thinking!) So now that we are older, we need to remember to mix it up on the run as well. I remember as a kid I could run all day long, but didn’t think of it as endurance. As adults we can incorporate fartlek runs. (Meaning speed play in Swedish) I just love to say that word at parties. During a long run add in some speed. For example, "I will run to the tree down there at a 5k pace." Adding in these types of runs can help with leg turnover and form. You should also think a little about where your foot lands. When you are running with good technique, you should land on your mid foot, or think about leaning from the ankles during these harder efforts and you will get faster. Be a kid again and have some fun racing your friends to the next road marker. Just mix up the pace!

What about transitions? I regularly see kids get their shoes on and off faster than many adults. Kids get lots of practice, so spend some time practicing your transitions. Kids don’t think about all the stuff they need to put on to go outside and play, in their mind all they need is their shoes. So be a minimalist in transition and put only what you need next to your bike. Most kids don’t even tie their shoes. Try using speed laces of some sort to keep from having to waste time in T2 tying your shoes.

So think about what you learned in Kindergarten and remember to have fun with your workouts. Make your workouts fun by adding in some games that you can play to spice up your workout so it will less mundane or even flat out boring. The next time you look at your training schedule, see how you can be creative and make it some of the best workouts you have had. I know when I was a kid, I just loved to go out and play!

14 weeks

Good evening
So the gym is closed, time to move on, Im thinking its going to be the local city pool and gym,,,they offer a family pass i can bring the kids to the pool while i do my laps. This is very cost effective too around 48 dollars a month for the entire family swimming, skating, and the gym .........
I have 14 weeks before my first race and I'm starting to get excited !! when i was on my bike outside on Wednesday i was very fast compared to last year !! I made sure i did go on the same route just to compare my time for my first 20 km i really rocked it !!!!!
Tonight is the first night that I'm just sitting around and unplugging for a bit doing some mindless surfing on the Internet (a thing that i love doing) just surfing whatever my mind wants....... it usually comes back to triathlon but what ever pops into my mind!!!
My last week of training was OK but not quite back to 100 % but my work schedule was all over the place, tomorrow will be a key day for me id like to prepare for the week so i don't have to do it Sunday..
Saturday i will spin at home since Ive been away all week i just don't want to leave the house!! then Sunday morning i have a hockey game... that will leave two more games,,, then i will retire until i have a Mdot tattoo from Penticton BC Ironman Canada....the risk of injury in mens recreational hockey is to high to risk messing up so many hours of training.
I have been looking at a few of my pictures from last year and i never smile!!! that is going to be included in my new race plan!!! last season being my first race year i was really  wound up in the whole big rush ! this year I'm going to be more calm cool and collective and I'm also not going to bring my house into the transition area! I'm not even going to wash to sand off my feet!!
I'm excited i talked my sister-in-law into doing a race with me !!!! We have three people addicted to triathlon in our family now.....I guess i know what the dinner conversations will be >>>>>

Gym closed

Just as I thought!!! CLOSED
No workout today !! I think I will go for a swim tomorrow somewhere cause I missed today !
The last few days at work have been killer ! I'm not going to stress out like I did last time ! If I was closer to race day I'd be worried but lots of time to turn it up !!!!!!
I will check out a few clubs tomorrow and see what they are like but I think I will end back at the local city gym then I can get my family membership back and we can all go to the gym ! I also know it will never close !

Outside time is great!

Hills, yes we do big gear 12 up out of the saddle but holy !!!! Nothing like peddling your guts out up a big hill!
Head winds! I had a huge one coming back today !!! I was down in the small kid gear just spinning to save my life.
Pot holes !!! There is lots of them some were big enough to do some serious damage !
Cars!!! Yes I guess they are not used to see cyclists out much yet because I almost bit the dust today!
Exhaust ! Yes I could really notice that today just the stink from the cars we are not used to in the gym !! It was hard to get used too!
Sand and small stones on the road!can make u hit the ground to!
Lots of new things to watch for when you get outside !!!!

BMI good

So I just returned home from my crappy gym that's about to close and regardless of all the classes being closed and the pool being closed and the gym only opening when they want I still can't cancel my membership !
Tomorrow I'm phoning head office and the consumer protection agency to try to cancel my membership.
BMI went great ! Weight down, body fat down, lean muscle up !
Much better than I expected !!!

BMI tonight

Well I'm not expecting any miracles today at my BMI because I know my weight has gone up a bit but my cloths are fitting different ! (to big) which is good!
I think I have been putting on some more muscle ! But tonight will show the difference !
The last few Saturdays at spin class I've been thinking I was getting lazy then I realized just after Christmas coach paul said that he was going to turn up the dial which explains why I've felt like I was struggling ! It's just a little harder ! I'm ok with that it's going to make all my tri buddies much faster this season !!! Maybe we will see some more podium finishes this summer! I know I'm going to turn it up a notch !
I went for a swim in my regular gym pool last night and the pool seemed cleaner but I listened to lots of whispers about the gym closing at the end of the week ! It's not open early anymore which is not good for me and there is no more classes !!! No yoga no spins no nothing! I can't see it ever recovering from this one! I'm going to print a letter to them explaining in it that I'm going to cancel my contract due to lack of service ! I feel since the they cancelled all classes and changed the hours of the gym they have voided my contract ! That's why I went to the gym was pool that's open at 5 am now it's not open and it's dirty !!! And they have canceled all classes which was another reason why I went there!
I have to get signed up for all my races it seems like everyone is doing it this week so now I'm getting excited can't wait !!!

How did I swim without it?

My swimp3 I don't know how I ever swam in a pool without it!! It works amazing !!! 180 dollars from Durham swimwear worth every penny. I did notice I had to work a bit harder on pace because my favorite tunes were blaring threw my cheek bones.....that's right ......threw my cheek bones ! Which is great for me because I wear ear plugs ! I started off with a little bit of rise against then a little ...I Mother Earth....then over to some eminem my favorite so there was quite a few of those followed by some biggie smalls a little bit of old school and before I knew it I was swimming for a hour and a half
My friend Robbie was in the pool tonight blasting threw her swim workout..... It's always nice to see my tri buddies working out ! It's not so bad when you see others giving up there spare time to train too!-
I was about one third into my swim and a fellow swimmer looked like he wanted to talk to me which I rarely ever do while training...so I stopped to talk to him and it turns out he was interested in starting to train for a marathon I said "you are out here swimming you should do a triathlon he seemed very interested in everything I was doing asking me how long I was swimming for and what kind of goggles I had and I felt it was my turn to give back to the sport and answer all his questions! And for those of you that know me You know i can talk the stripes off a zebra so I didn't mind taking a few minutes out to talk to him about triathlon ! Also a nice plug for the Durham Region Triathlon Club always looking for new members to keep our club growing strong and healthy! After all the help and support I received from this wonderful group of people it's my turn to give back!!!
I'm real glad I'm back on the up side of this roller coaster training ride where the smallest thing could cause problems!!! As I get further into training I have found out that it's way more mental than physical for me ! I believe it's making me stronger !!!!

Amazing day

It's nice when your training day goes just right!
Lots of energy lots of grit! Today I pounded through my run ! Then did some elliptical, then right into my weights it was amazing !
Lots of rumors about when the gym is closing ! but the overall condition of the place wasn't bad, someone has been cleaning it, floors were clean, washrooms were clean, not at all like a place that was closing soon.
I have my BMI on Tuesday night and I'm not expecting any miracles but if I just hold my passed weight I will be happy !!
Tomorrow I get to use my swimp3 in the pool !!! can't wait 500 songs to swim too !!!!
This week is going to be called register week! I have to register for "Triathlon Ontario, Durham Region Triathlon club, also Guelph one triathlon, Gravenhurst, and the Kingston long!

Outside soon

Good morning !
I hope the nice weather gets here fast I would love to get out on the bike. It's a
great day to be outside today if you don't mind a small chill in the air!! The birds are out singing, which is a good sign that warmer weather is near !
I hope everyone had a great time at our pool game last evening !!! I sure did ! And thanks to Liz we got home at 1030 pm. Our next triathlon social will be well into the training season so it will be a no beer event for me ! Susan suggested go-carts!! That will be very fun!!!
Up and off to hockey ! And to the the gym ! If it's still open and not been shut down...... for my run and weights!
I went to the bike show yesterday and found my new tri bike!
I'm very excited about it! So now I have all the tools and all I need is to apply the training and should have a fun summer of races !

Retail therapy

Good evening !!

What better to do to get things back in order again then go buy something! I went to Durham swimwear today and got the Finis swimp3 and does it ever work good!! I loaded up all my favorite music and can't wait to get in the pool! I did a dry run with it and it worked great! Nothing goes in your ears they sit on your cheek bones held on with your goggle straps !!! Pretty slick !
I also picked up the coolest goggles ! I had to get them because they just looked good! They are alot bigger than my old ones and man what a difference!! The only thing in the lake I might have a problem with is I will really see the fish!! I don't like that!!
Hahaha I know I know it's funny to see a big dude sacred of a little fish !! But I have seen their teeth ! I don't want to see them up close!
Things are looking good again ! Training is back on track I'm feeling good again ...... It really makes a difference if my body eats crappy food it just feels crappy!!
Time to focus and get right back into it soon be race day!
